Lisa Chess is an actor, acting instructor and director. 

She has worked extensively in film and television. Film credits include co-starring in the award winning independent film, Frankie & Johnny Are Married (winner Best Ensemble Acting Award at the Ashland Film Festival & finalist at the AFI Film Festival) , Ladies In Waiting (Palm Springs Film Festival), and The Hollow. She guest starred on several televisions series, including Picket Fences, The Practice, Family Law, The Division, Diagnosis Murder, & Chicago Hope. Theater credits include The Catskill Sonata (Los Angeles), directed by Paul Mazursky, Bridge Over Land (NY), Pineapple (Lincoln Center Lab, NY), Frankie & Johnny In The Clair de Lune, Sacrificial Dance, Legacy, & the dreamer examines his pillow (Los Angeles). Commercials include Walt Disney World, Direct TV, and United Airlines. 

She is on the faculty at  UCLA in the Extension program and at NYU’s School of Professional Studies. Previously, she taught acting at the School of Visual Arts in NYC.  She developed and taught an MCLE (Continuing Legal Education) workshop in Los Angeles. Her work also includes private acting coaching. 

Lisa develops and directs solo performance shows including Booger Red, The Biscuiteater, Do You Know Me?, and Hazards. 

She has a B.A. from the University of California at Los Angeles in History & Dance. She studied acting with Peggy Feury , the Actors Studio & the Loft Studio (Los Angeles).
